Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to set up and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) sizing machines used for the production of panels and components. Work is completed in a forest products factory setting and includes operator maintenance.The unit applies to Production Worker, Engineered Timber Products Technician, Machine Operator, Timber Fabricator. No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: CNC sizing machines computer program for sizing machines maintenance tools and equipment for sizing machines consumable saw blades personal protective equipment suitable for cutting material using CNC sizing machines a diverse range of commercial timber: beams, including laminated beams laminated veneer chipboard medium density fibreboard dressed timber preservative treated timber manufacturers’ instructions for use and maintenance of equipment work order with specific instructions for cutting material using CNC sizing machines template documents for recording production outcomes, equipment faults and maintenance requirements organisational policies and procedures for cutting material using CNC sizing machines. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
